La organización del festival 0161 de Manchester, responde a Banda Bassotti respecto a su salida del cartel, comentan que la contratación se inició hace meses y la banda reservó la fecha, semanas atrás la organización escribió varios mails a la agencia de contratación de la banda para comentarles varios puntos que había que cumplir para que tocasen en el festival, la respuesta fue un mail genérico donde les mandaban a la mierda, para luego indicarles que en esas fechas Banda Bassoti estaría en Venezuela, cosa que la organización interpretó que no podían tocar. "REPLY TO BANDA BASSOTI' S STATEMENT As we mentioned a few days ago, Banda Bassoti are no longer on the bill for the festival. We were happy to leave it at that, and did not want to go into details but unfortunately feel obliged to reply to the misleading statement issued on their site. ·The only contact we have had has been with the band's booking agent. ·The statement on their page was issued by the same person, we believe to cover their own shortcomings. ·The statement claims they were booked four months ago, heard nothing since, and were suddenly dropped from the bill. This is untrue. ·Their booking agent had received many emails over a period of several weeks regarding various issues we wanted to sort, to ensure they could play.
 
The only reply to these emails was one generic vague communique that was of fuck all use to us. ·Eventually, perhaps after sensing we were getting to the end of our tether, we received an email along the lines of "oh yeah that festival, the band are in Venezuela that weekend, do you wanna just cancel it then?". We took this as a sign they weren't really interested in playing at all. Fair do's. ·At this point, having felt the piss was well and truly being taken, not to mention the risky logistics of making it all the way from half the way round the world in time, we thought "fuck this, in a bit lads".
 
Although we could see the appeal of Caracas over north Manchester to be fair. ·Shortly after this, and presumably after informing the band, the previously elusive booking agent suddenly became very fucking talkative, banging on about subversive anarchist elements sabotaging their credentials. (They were not dropped for political reasons as we didn't get as far as even being able to discuss any political issues with the band, or anything for that matter.) Make your mind up mate, we haven't got time for this, and by the cut of your jib we can't be arsed risking money or the working relationship we have with the many people and bands who don't want you on the bill. We were trying to help but Christ, you don't exactly help yourselves.
 
Let's have it right - We are a mix of all varieties of lefties, with varying positions on Donbass, were well aware that they were old school commies and repeatedly tried to contact them and get them to set the record straight on whatever political controversy was dogging them amongst other issues that needed sorting. Putting on an event as big as this is time consuming, expensive and stressful. We haven't got the patience for being messed about, whether it's down to laziness or arrogance. If you want more details on that contact them or the other bands from abroad on the bill, we've had enough of it. This is all that we will say on the matter. We are not going to get into mud-slinging on the internet. People can say / do what they want. ///
